Ool Pardi, of Strongheart Drummedicine, says, “Drums are powerful tools that become allies for walking any medicine path. When you make sacred tools with your own hands, you open a world within you that sees life, death, rebirth and resources differently. It is a transformative process for the maker…in ways one would never expect or plan for. Birthing sacred tools in challenging seasons of life tend to give us the space to make ourselves as we make the making.”
Heart to Heart Shamanic Healing is pleased to sponsor Ool Pardi for a drum making workshop as part of our Creating Shamanic Tools series. Whether it’s a rattle, drum, smudge fan or wand, any tool you create is infused with your essence, your own spirit’s energy and carries your power and intention. The making is a respectful process of asking the spirit of the wood, the animal, the feathers to join you in spirit. The spirit of the tool becomes an ally to support you on your path. You have a healing partner and guide.
These drums will be constructed in traditional manner from responsibly harvested materials. The skins are sustainably sourced from free range buffalo. Deer hides are used if we cannot obtain the buffalo hides. The frames are steam bent ash made by Irish shaman and drum maker, Daithi Dubh of Wild Spirit Drums.
“Each hide holds the story, the messages, and the medicine of the animal who died. In the process of working the hides for sacred sound making, we listen. We invite the spirit of the animal to be the guide for their rebirth. Each of these spirits becomes an ancestor for the drums made from their hides. These animals and their spirits continue to teach us how to be a better human.”
