Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Sacred Valley, Cusco, & Machu Picchu
with Judy Ramsey
October 21 – November 4, 2027
15 days/14 nights
This is a unique opportunity to authentically experience the essence of ancient Andean culture. Walk gently along the pathways of origin, visiting the condors in Colca Canyon, the highest navigable lake of the world, Lake Titicaca, and explore the sites in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, including Machu Picchu. This beautifully woven exploration into the Andean world through a native perspective combines visiting magnificent pre-Columbian archeological sites and exquisite Peruvian cuisine with profound cultural immersion events, allowing you to cultivate an intimate relationship to this land, its people, and customs.

When you arrive in Lima, I arrange for you to be picked up and transported to our inn. As with the rest of the expedition, I can't guarantee a single will be available, but will do my best if that's what you want. Singles come with a $25 higher price than a double room, which you can split the cost of with your roommate.
I arrive 3-4 days early to prepare everything for you. If you want to see something specific, I can help you make reservations for it or suggest great museums, events (like horse dancing), shopping, or visiting an artist's home.
Costs for Lima for 3 days can range from $250-$500 total, depending on what you do, eat, or buy. Lodging is about $170 for 3 days. Food ranges from $35 a meal to $5 depending on your tastes. I usually try to book a really nice restaurant for a group dinner, Huaca Pucllana, which has ruins you can view while eating.
When the trip is over, I reserve rooms in the same inn just to land in for showers, naps, food, or last-minute shopping. This provides a gentle transition before you return home on a long flight. It is optional and cost is spread among whomever uses that room for landing. You can, of course have your own room--just let me know. Like many people in the past, you may want to stay longer in Lima after the trip, and can remain overnight at the inn with whatever room you land in.
